Aims and scope

Access to safe food is imperative for achieving one of the UN’s key Sustainable Development Goals of Zero Hunger. Food Safety and Risk aims to address this need by providing a multidisciplinary forum for all research relating to food safety. The journal is open access, and examples of topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

  • Risk/benefit assessments of food and diet
  • Biological, chemical, and physical hazards
  • Emerging hazards
  • Decontamination methods
  • Food preservation and storage
  • Environmental and climate change effects on food safety
  • Impact of food processing and manufacture (both established and novel methods) on food safety and health
  • Novel methods for the detection of contaminants
  • Toxicology of food contaminants
  • Predictive models in food safety
Food Safety and Risk welcomes original research papers, review papers and opinion papers.
